PESHAWAR, Dec 11: Police have asked managers of banks and other financial institutions in Peshawar to install close circuit cameras and other detecting gadgets in their offices.

Managers of various financial institutions on Tuesday held a meeting with Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Tanveer-ul-Haq Sipra and apprised him of the problems pertaining to the law and order situation.

They asked for improved security measures in areas adjacent to their offices.

The CCPO stressed the need for installing screening gad gets in the banks which could help detect explosives, weapons, etc.

He said that if the banks needed the services of private security guards, they should be only appointed in coordination with police.

The managers were also asked not to allow parking of any vehicles and any encroachments in front of their offices.The CCPO asked the managers to keep an eye on people visiting their offices and staff members.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested 60 people, 18 of them proclaimed offenders, and seized arms and ammunitions from their possessions.

It was reported that an accused Suba Khan, a resident of Faisalabad, was arrested and 28 pistols and 250 rounds of bullets were found in his possession.

The rest were arrested from various villages in the city.

Police also seized 48 pistols, two short-guns, one Kalash-nikov and two rifles from their possessions.
