QUETTA, Dec 10: Gas supply to Mastung and Kalat districts was suspended on Monday afternoon after a main pipeline was blown up in the Dasht area of Mastung.

Police sources said some people had fired on the pipeline on the outskirts of the Quetta city. The 24-inch diameter pipeline caught fire.

Staff of the Sui Southern Gas Company visited the site and cut off supply to the pipeline.

An official of the company said work to replace the damaged portion had been started after security clearance. However, rainfall in the area since Sunday night was hampering the work, he said.

He said gas supply to the affected areas was expected to be restored ‘in 24 hours’.
