TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 9: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khalid Ahmad Kharal has said that he has fielded his son, Haider Ali Kharal, from NA-94, Kamalia, and he himself will look after his electioneering.

Mr Kharal, PPP Federal Council general secretary, told reporters he was not a candidate for the National Assembly this time but would be a covering candidate for his son. Besides it, he would also run the election campaigns for party candidates in the district and other parts of the country, he said.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) has yet to nominate any candidate from this constituency. However, former member of the National Assembly Riaz Fatyana is likely to get the ticket. His wife, Ashfa Fatyana, has been awarded the PML ticket for PP-88, Kamalia. PML-Q sources said Mr Fatyana had his reservation over awarding of PML-Q tickets for PP-89 to Makhdoom Ali Raza and PP-90 to Saeed Ahmed Saeedi, so he filed his election papers as an independent candidate.

The constituency of PP-90 falls partly under NA-94 (Kamalia) and partly under NA-93 (Toba). The PML-Q’s ticket to Mr Saeedi was awarded on the recommendation of NA-93 candidate Mian Kashif Ashfaq, son of former district nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq. Mr Fatyana is not agreeing on candidatures of Mr Saeedi and Mr Raza. According to him, Mr Raza was campaigning as an ally of PML-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for NA-94 Chaudhry Asadur Rehman.

Mr Rehman also confirmed that Mr Raza was his candidate for PP-89, adding that in a day or two, the PML-N’s parliamentary board would award ticket to Mr Raza.

Also, Mr Rehman told reporters at the residence of former PML-Q MPA Chaudhry Liaqat Ali Shaukat that his family and people of Kamalia were proud of the sacrifice rendered by his brother, Justice Khalil Ramday for the independence of the judiciary. Justice Ramday has been detained since Nov 3, the imposition of the emergency rule in the country. — Correspondent
