LAHORE, Dec 7: Karachi University (KU) beat Government College, University, Lahore (GCUL) 2-1 in the Pakistan inter-varsity women’s tennis championship here on Friday.

KU’s Aneela won the first singles against Maira 6-4, 6-2. But Ammara of GCUL restored the parity defeating Alfia (KU) in the second singles 6-2, 6-4. In the doubles, Aneela and Ulfia beat Faiza and Ammara 6-0, 7-5.

Government College, University, Faisalabad (GCUF) beat Fatima Jinnah University (FJU) 2-1.

Results:

GCUF bt FJU 2-1.

Shamsa (GCUF) bt Naheda (FJU) 6-4, 7-5; Ghalia (FJU) bt Sameena (GCUF) 6-3, 6-3; Shamsa-Sameena (GCUF) bt Naheeda-Ghalia 6-2, 6-3.

Punjab University (PU) beat LUMS (2-0).

Saara Mansoor bt Nida 6-0, 6-0; Maira bt Misha 6-2, 6-2.

Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) bt Government College, University, Lahore, 2-0.

Mariam (BZU) bt Ayesha 6-4, 6-3; Sehresh bt Ammara 6-2, 6-1.

Lahore College, University, bt Karachi University 2-0:

Bisma bt Alfia 6-1, 6-2; Kiran bt Aneela 6-2, 6-2.
