Munir bags trap shooting title

KARACHI, March 30: Cdr Munir Ahmed clinched the trap individual title and helped Pakistan Navy to clinch the team gold in the inaugural Sindh Governor’s Cup shooting championship at Naval Shooting Complex Saturday.

Pre event favourites Cdr Munir, who was leading with 71 points after three rounds, fired rounds of 22 and 23 and finalised with 20 in the finals to muster 129/150 points to lead the field.

Brig. Sikander, trailing behind on the first day, produced excellent show to jump to second position with last three rounds of 24, 22 and 23 to accumulate 122/150 and almost tie with Cdr Munir.

Abdul Rahim occupying the second spot slipped to third as he fired 20, 20, 20 in the last three rounds to end with 122/150.

Navy trio of Cdr Munir, Abdul Rahim and Lt. Shibli collected 309 to take team contest. Sindh having the services of Capt. Mahmood Sultan, Usman Sadiq and Dr Naveed Shah took the silver and Army with only two shooters Brig. Sikander and Major Fakhar took the bronze.
