Electioneering in Mansehra delayed

Published December 7, 2007

MANSEHRA, Dec 6: Electioneering in the Mansehra district has been delayed due to the threat of boycott by the All Parties Democratic Movement, after which the mainstream political and religious parties have put off their election campaigns.

As many as 120 candidates have been cleared for contests on two National Assembly and six provincial assembly seats from the district.

Only the candidates of the Pakistan Muslim League, Sardar Shahjahan, and JUI (F)’s Syed Hadayatullah Shah for NA-20 (Mansehra-I) have launched their campaigns. Gen (retd ) Salahuddin Tirmizi of the PML (N) and Younas Khattak of the Jamaat-i-Islami are still waiting for their party’s go-ahead.
