KARACHI, Dec 6: The State Bank will hold a one-day workshop on ‘Strengthening Secured Transaction Reform Framework’ at the 11th of this month.

The SME Department of SBP is implementing an ADB-funded technical assistance project aimed at developing a secured transaction framework that will facilitate use of both moveable and immovable assets as collateral, with the objective of providing access to credit to a larger section of the public; particularly in agriculture and SME sectors.

This initiative requires review of and improvements in policies, laws and regulations as well as development of a registry system in the country.

This is the second workshop being organised under the project and representatives from Pakistan Banks’ Association, banking institutions, SME Associations, Leasing Association, accounting firms and leading technology players along with government representatives from all the four provinces are expected to participate in the workshop.

Officials from the State Bank and International Securities Consultancy Ltd. (ISC), Hong Kong will give presentations on different topics related to the Secured Transactions Reform Framework. After the presentations, an open discussion will be held on the subject.
