LAHORE, Dec 3: Representatives from various civil society and student groups came together on Monday to protest for the restoration of the judiciary at Lawrence Gardens.
Around 120 protestors, including high-profile names such as human rights lawyer Hina Jilani, president of the Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) Arif Hameed Bhatti, Joint Action Committee (JAC) representative Shahtaj Qazalbash and Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, attended the protest.
They convened at 3pm in front of the Quaid-i-Azam Library and proceeded to raise slogans against emergency, and sing the poetry of Faiz.
The protest passed off peacefully and without police intervention, and protestors dispersed about two hours after it began.
Students and civil society will be protesting in another protest in front of the Lahore Press Club at 3pm on Tuesday (today).
