KARACHI, Dec 2: Hours-long traffic jams at Lasbella traffic intersection and Nishtar Road-Britto Road traffic intersection has become a matter of routine due to the closure of a track of Business Recorder Road (from Lasbella to Gurumandir) for its reconstruction.

The vehicular traffic going towards Gurumandir and Old Numaish from Nazimabad and North Nazimabad is nowadays diverted from Lasbella towards Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar Road traffic intersection. At this point the flow of traffic either comes to a halt or moves at a snail’s pace mainly owing to the irresponsible behaviour of public transporters who stop their vehicles at any given point of their choice.

The unlawful stoppage of buses, minibuses and coaches at the busy turning of Lasbella for lifting and dropping of passengers and presence of unauthorised rickshaw and taxi stands create hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic moving towards Nishtar Road and unfortunately, the traffic personnel deputed there simply act as silent spectators.

The situation aggravates during peak hours when a large number of motorists residing in Nazimabad and North Nazimabad who take the route of Business Recorder Road while returning home from their workplaces get stuck up at Lasbella whenever a gridlock takes place owing to mingling of traffic proceeding towards Nishtar Road and going towards Nazimabad and North Nazimabad.

Similar situation can be witnessed at Britto Road-Nishtar Road and Britto Road-Old Numaish traffic intersections as a large number of vehicles meant for Gurumandir after being diverted towards Nishtar Road from Lasbella take a left turn towards the Britto Road to reach their destinations.

The ordeal of the motorists going towards Gurumandir and Old Numaish via Britto Road does not end here as the entire traffic, after reaching the busy Old Numaish traffic intersection, has no choice but to wait for a long time because there always remains a heavy flow of traffic on the busy M. A. Jinnah Road from either side.

Meanwhile, people residing on either side of Britto Road complained that they have been facing immense difficulties in crossing the road as due to the closure of one track of Business Recorder Road the entire traffic meant for Gurumandir and Mereweather Tower was using this route to reach their destination.
