HYDERABAD, Dec 1: Enraged members of Hindu community ransacked Market police station late on Friday night after four of their fraternity received injuries in a clash during a marriage ceremony in the city’s red light area.

According to an elder of the community, Mohan Lal, when the marriage party was returning from temple located inside the red light area the scuffle broke out among the party.

Women from the red light area also threw stones and bricks at the scuffling men injuring Mohan Lal, Rano Mal, Lal Chand and Kishan Chand who were moved to Civil Hospital.

Hundreds of people took to streets in the area following the scuffle. Some of the people smashed windowpanes of a car (AKT-245) parked in the area. Later the enraged people from the Hindu community stormed the Market police station and ransacked it.

They broke windowpanes in the police station’s rooms and also damaged a motorbike belonging to a local TV channel cameraman, Ashiq. They said that police were not taking action against the people who had attacked their guests and instead they were giving them protection.

Mohan Lal lodged a case against Ayub, Yusuf and Haider and according to acting DPO a separate case of ransacking of police station would also be lodged.

He said that Ayub, Yusuf and Haider had been arrested and claimed that the clash occurred because people from the two sides were drunk.

Around 500 houses of Hindu community are located in Sochi para which is quite adjacent to red light area. These people are affiliated with business of shoemaking.

They complain that such incidents do take place on a regular basis but police don’t take action against people who are involved in prostitution and have made their lives miserable.

“At times they prevent us from visiting our temple. The cases of eve-teasing also take place whenever our womenfolk go there for worship,” Mohan Lal told journalists.

Another resident Paras Ram said that these people scuffle with him when he goes there for taking rent from tenants of his plaza.

Police authorities issue a charge-sheet against SHO Market police station Sabir Gadi. According to acting DPO Hyderabad Khalid Mustafa Korai the SHO has not been placed under suspension but if he is found guilty of negligence he will face action.
