LAHORE, March 29: Police claimed on Friday having arrested five members of a nine-man gang of alleged robbers and drug pushers.
On a tip off that a gang has been selling drugs outside schools and other education institutes, police raided a place and arrested Rehmat Ali, ring leader, Zafar, Zulfikar and Mushtaq.
On the disclosure of the arrested men, Shahzad was taken into custody and five kg hash was recovered from him. Rehmat also confessed to have been running a gang of robbers and reportedly admitted to have carried out some six such crimes.
Four other members— Asif, Mushka, Billo and Tipu— of the gang are at large. The police claimed to have recovered two revolvers, a pistol, a carbine and 41 bullets from the accused.
Two slain: Two people were murdered in different parts of the city on Friday.
Aslam said his brother Latif, 45, was busy working in an oil factory in Mominpura when two unidentified men came to see him. When he came out they opened fire on him and escaped on a motorcycle. The injured was taken to the Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.
Latif, a resident of Kot Lakhpat, is survived by a wife and seven children.
SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES: A man who sustained injuries in a failed dacoity attempt in Manga Mandi a couple of days ago, died in a local hospital.
Two gunmen entered into the house of Tanvir Ahmad, 30, and held the family at gunpoint. They shot at Tanvir and injured him when he put up resistance.
The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.
