LAHORE, Nov 29: Due to circumstances beyond control, the Lahore Race Club’s (LRC) chairman and stewards have decided against holding the Lahore winter meeting, scheduled for Sunday (Dec 2), says a notification issued by the Lahore Race Club (LRC) on Thursday.

It is the second time that the LRC has been forced to cancel races following an outbreak of equine influenza earlier this week. The midweek Lahore Gymkhana race meeting scheduled for Wednesday also did not take place due to this. The disease that has affected many horses has sent the racing schedule into total disarray.

As a result, the Pakistan St. Leger 2007, an important 2,000-metre term race for four-year-old colts and fillies, to be held on Dec 2, too had to be moved ahead by two weeks. It is now being planned for Dec 16.
