HYDERABAD, Nov 29: Former chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the general elections will be held in a transparent manner and emergency will be withdrawn before elections.
Arbab said during his talks with leaders of Mir, Pir and Syed groups belonging to Pakistan Muslim League at the Fauji Sugar Mill guest house in Tando Mohammad Khan on Wednesday that President Pervez Musharraf had fulfilled the promise to shed uniform.
He believed that Pakistan Muslim League would sweep the elections with thumping majority. Mian Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto had returned to the country under a deal, he said.
He said that the people who were talking about election’s boycott were living in a fools’ paradise because (they knew) the PML would hand them a crushing defeat.
The Pakistan People’s Party had always followed anti-Sindh policies instead of serving people and the PPP candidates would be mauled in the elections, he alleged.
District Nazim Mir Inayat Ali Khan Talpur, Mir Aijaz Ali Talpur, Mir Mumtaz Ali Khan Talpur, Syed Qabool Mohammad Shah, former adviser to Sindh government Mir Ali Nawaz Talpur and Mir Raja Shoukat Talpur were among the people who attended the meeting.
PML-F: The general secretary of the Sindh chapter of PML-F, Nawab Rashid Ali Khan, said on Thursday that President Musharraf had honoured his promise with the nation and his decision would strengthen democracy.
He said while talking to party workers at the provincial coordination office that it was Musharraf who ensured that the assemblies had completed tenure for the first time in the history of Pakistan.
He welcomed the return of Mian Nawaz Sharif and said that it was the need of the hour and would strengthen democracy.
