PESHAWAR, March 27: A person was found guilty of drug pushing by the court of additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday and was sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs40,000.

The presiding officer, Shehbar Khan, ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond any doubt. The accused, Allah Khan, of Bakra Mandi, Lahore, was convicted under the Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 1997.

He was arrested two years ago by Kabuli police with 20kg of charas.

The defence counsel argued that the accused was arrested by an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), whereas under section 21 of the CNSA an official below the rank of SI was not empowered to seize and conduct investigation.
