Bandits kill soldier

SHIKARPUR, Nov 17: An army soldier was killed and two others suffered serious injuries when a gang of armed highwaymen opened fire on their wagon near Dost Wah on Shikarpur-Jacobabad road in the jurisdiction of Sultankot police station late on Saturday night.

Six armed bandits opened fire on the moving vehicle when the driver did not stop killing Rafique Ahmed, 25, resident of Mir Mohammad Khuharo village who was a soldier in 42-Punjab Regiment. The driver, Gul Mohammad, 30, and another passenger Khadim Hussain were seriously injured.

The soldier was coming to his village near Sultankot to spend his leaves.

The injured were moved to Shikarpur Civil Hospital and their condition was stated to be out of danger.

The transporters and passengers blocked the Jacobabad-Shikarpur road near Dost Wah after the incident demanding immediate arrest of culprits.
