LARKANA, Nov 14: Leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that Sindh has survived against the odd days of martial law and now also it will not bow down in the current state of affairs.

Talking to journalists at his house on Wednesday, he said that restrictions under Provisional Constitution Order were not new for them and the movement for restoration of democracy, Constitution and free media would go on.

The detention of Benazir Bhutto who was struggling for free and fair polls under an independent Election Commission and restoration of Constitution, was tantamount to arresting democracy in the country, he said.Expressing solidarity with Punjab, Khuhro said that Ms Benazir was playing a role to save the country while others, he claimed, were spreading hatred among provinces.

He said that the rulers had spoiled the last elections by indulging in horse-trading and finding turncoats for their use.

He said that the government’s claim that that the assemblies were completing their tenures was merely eyewash, he said.

Mr Khuhro also feared drastic cut in foreign aid under the present circumstances which could trigger worst law and order situation and bring an increase in unemployment.

He vowed that the arrests, jails and cases would not stop PPP to abandon its struggle for democracy.

He criticised the Sindh chief minister and said that he had first jumped from Sindh Democratic Alliance to National Alliance and then to PML-Q and now inspired to lead a new political party.
