India’s industrial output

Published November 13, 2007

NEW DELHI, Nov 12: India’s industrial output rose 6.4 per cent in September, a sharp slowdown from 12 per cent in the same month a year ago as manufacturing and power production weakened, official data showed on Monday.

The slowdown came as the central bank held a key interest rate at a four-year high of 7.75 per cent and hiked the cash reserves banks need to set aside by 50 basis points to 7.5 per cent in its latest monetary policy review in October.—AFP
