KARACHI, Nov 11: Dacoits killed a shopkeeper in Landhi on Sunday and fled with cash.

Mohammad Luqman, 26, was busy working in his shop near Chiragh Hotel in Landhi when some half a dozen armed dacoits struck the shop, which offers catering service.

Area police said four of the dacoits held him and other workers at the shop hostage and two gangsters started collecting cash from the shop’s locker and valuables from the hostages.

According to an official of the Korangi Industrial Area police station, the dacoit were about to leave with the booty when Mr Luqman tried to grab one of them. The dacoits opened fire resulting in his instant death.

“The victim received a couple of bullets in his chest and abdomen and died on the spot. Another man, Mohammad Irfan, sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital,” he said.

The police did not register an FIR of the murder and robbery, maintaining that nobody from the deceased’s family had yet approached for the purpose.
