KARACHI, March 26: Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan has called for details of all such leases which had been granted in the past on nullahs and drains or such land where lease was not permissible.

During a visit to Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town, the Nazim was pin- pointed various places where such leases were issued as a result either the nullahs had been closed or their width reduced, thus blocking the disposal of rain-water and also affecting the sewerage lines.

The Nazim referred to sewerage condition in Scheme-33 and lamented that the defunct KDA did not complete it.

He directed that KWSB’s phased programme of disconnecting sewerage lines with storm-water drains be expedited.

He directed the Executive District Officer (Revenue) Javed Hanif to take steps for immediate removal of all encroachments set up on nullahs and sewerage lines and submit a report to him — APP
