BADIN, Nov 9: The Cane Commissioner Sindh lodged cases against two sugar mills of Badin for their failure to start crushing and violating the Sugarcane Factories Act. The cases were lodged directly in the civil courts of Badin-I and II against the management of Mirza and Dewan sugar mills. Although no responsible official of the sugar mills could be contacted, however, the growers said that separate cases would be registered against those sugar mills denying payment of outstanding dues to the growers. There are at least five sugar mills in the district viz; Army, Mirza, Khoski, Talhar and Pangrio none of which could start crushing.

According to unconfirmed reports, cases against rest of the sugar mills have also been filed.

The growers demanded that all the mills should be pressed to start crushing without any delay.
