MIRPURKHAS, Nov 8: Leaders of Hindu community unanimously decided in a meeting on Thursday to celebrate Diwali festival with simplicity in protest against imposition of emergency, suspension of constitution, attack on judiciary, curbs on media and arrest of journalists, HRCP leaders, lawyers and political workers.

The meeting attended by Kanji Rano Mal Bheel, district coordinator of HRCP core group, and Hindu community leaders Sarwan Kumar, Lal Chand Mero, Bekho, Amar Lal, Hira Lal Kolhi and Amar Bacho who ahd come from Sanghar, Umerkot, Tharparkar and Mirpurkhas remarked that their community was in mourning since the suspension of fundamental rights.

The meeting demanded withdrawal of emergency, restoration of 1973 Constitution and reinstatement of Supreme Court justices and judges.

ANTI-GUTKA DRIVE: Mirpurkhas DIG Mazhar Shaikh on Thursday directed the DPOs of Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar and Tharparkar to launch a crackdown against the illegal business of mainpuri, gutka and aakra parchi in their respective areas.

Talking to a group of reporters at his office the DIG said that civil society should help police curb the illicit businesses. People should feel their responsibility to create a better atmosphere for their children, he said.
