LAHORE, Nov 6: Students of the Lahore University of Management Sciences plan to hold an on-campus march on Wednesday (today) to protest the imposition of emergency rule and the detention of some of the faculty members, to build a tempo for the street protests they want to stage in co-ordination with Lahore School of Economics students.

A student leader told Dawn the demonstration would take place within campus, and that media would be invited to cover it from outside the gates.

He said police had already begun intimidating students by parking their vehicles outside the campus gates in a show of force.

Prof Dr Cheema, Head of the Economics Department, Prof Dr Parvez Hasan, a member of the LUMS management committee, Bilal Minto (adjunct faculty in the Department of Law & Policy) and Aasim Sajjad (Social Sciences) were arrested on Sunday night for participating in an anti-government meeting held at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) office along with scores of other people.—Staff Reporter
