CHITRAL, Nov 6: District Nazim Maghfirat Shah has said the local government is fully alive to the situation and has taken appropriate steps to maintain peace and tranquillity in the area.

Speaking at a session of the district council here on Tuesday, he said no one would be allowed to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the district. Trouble makers, he said, would be dealt with sternly.

The nazim said a peace committee had been constituted which had representation from all sections of the society.

About the district disaster management plan, the nazim said an elaborate strategy had been formulated which would enable the district government to respond quickly to any such situation.

He said the National Disaster Management Authority had provided all necessities to the district government so that it may deal with any eventuality effectively.

He said the district government had received 2,002 tents, 5,000 blankets, 20,000 plastic sheets and 100 bundles of warm clothes from the authority.
