GUJRANWALA, Nov 3: A woman was killed while another sustained bullet wounds after they caught in firing between two rival groups in Saddar area here on Saturday.
Reports reaching here said that two rival groups, led by Javed and Riasat Ali, were engaged in firing when a bullet hit Nargis who was on her way to a nearby market.
As a result, she died on the spot while another passerby Muhammad Nazir suffered injuries. He was rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.
Sadar police have registered a case against accused Javed, Riasat, Varyam, Shafiq and others. The body was handed over to her heirs after postmortem.
SURETY BONDS: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 ordered the station house officers of two police stations to submit surety bonds worth Rs50,000 each in a criminal private complaint here on Saturday.
Reports said that Qila Dedar Singh SHO Nawaz Sayal and Ahmad Nagar SHO Gohar Abbas Bhatti picked up Khalid, Anser, Ibrar and Ashraf from Mansoorwali village.
The policemen had also snatched from them Rs1 million they had received as diyat in a murder case a few days back. Later, the SHOs demanded further Rs2.2 million for their release. The SHOs implicated them in a false case when they refused to meet their demand.
Ashfaq Ahmad had filed the private complaint against police officers in the ATC. Judge Mian Muhammad Shafi summoned both SHOs on next hearing on Nov 6.
CRITICISES: The development funds of Rs7 billion announced by the Punjab chief minister and later by President Pervez Musharraf during their public meetings some few years back has not been released so far.
