ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: Speakers at a seminar here on Thursday said the youth of Pakistan have been deliberately kept out of politics, depriving them of their right to voice their views.

They said it was a direct violation of their right to expression and participation in the decision making process.

The seminar-cum-opening ceremony of “Future youth group Islamabad” was organised by Future Youth Group in collaboration with the Liberal Forum and Friedrich Naumann, says a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader Zafar Ali Shah said, “the youth is rightly disillusioned about participation in politics and the major responsibility for this failure falls on the politicians.”

Nasir Bhatti, an expert on political science, highlighted FYG’s objectives that included struggle for emergence of democracy and politics based on toleration.

Journalist Nusrat Javed urged the youth, who are 60 percent of the total population, to come up with initiatives of their own instead of relying on the weakening political system.

Asif Khan of the Liberal Forum stressed transparency in politics and invited youngsters to join in the mainstream politics.
