WASHINGTON, March 23: Pakistan Day was observed by the unfurling of the national flag at a simple ceremony held on the lawns of the country’s embassy here on Saturday morning.

The flag hoisting was performed by Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, who also read out a message from President Pervez Musharraf that underlined efforts to make Pakistan a tolerant and progressive Muslim country.

Community representatives were among those present at the embassy ceremony.
