LAYYAH, Oct 31: Despite the district and sessions court’s orders on Oct 24, Kot Sultan police have not registered an abduction case. The judge ordered police to register a case against ‘influential’ people for abducting a woman on the complaint of her husband.

Shaista Parveen, of Jaman Shah, is an orphan and owns 10 acre. She married Rab Nawaz, of Jaman Shah, on July 7 against the will of her relatives. On Oct 5, Sajjad, Riaz with five others, including Zubaida Bibi, entered the house of Rab Nawaz when he was not home and abducted pregnant Shaista at gunpoint.

Rab Nawaz approached Kot Sultan police but they refused to register the case as the suspects had backing of a member of the National Assembly and the district nazim. He filed a writ petition in the court which ordered police on Oct 24 to register a case against the kidnappers.

Police said the SHO had gone to Muzaffargarh where Chief Minster Pervaiz Elahi was due on Thursday (today).
