Protest against division of Wapda

Published October 31, 2007

LAHORE, Oct 30: Wapda workers observed a protest day throughout the country on Tuesday to express resentment against the division of Wapda and privatisation of its power wing, allegedly on the dictates of international financial institutions.

Workers organised protest rallies in Quetta, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Peshawar and Rawalpindi on the call of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro-electric Central Labour Union to condemn the government’s ‘anti-worker’ policies.
