Protest against police

KHAIRPUR, Oct 29: More than 200 villagers and activists of Pakistan People’s Party staged a demonstration in protest against Thari Mirwah and Deparja police late on Sunday for arresting a villager Ali Hassan Phul.

The protesters belonging to Kharri villagers and its adjoining areas who were led by Awam Dost councillors staged a procession, which started from their villages. They staged a demonstration on the Sui Gas Chowk Kumb-Nawabshah link road.

They set ablaze tyres and raised slogans against Thari Mirwah and Deparja police, which led to suspension of traffic leading to Ranipur, Thari Mirwah.

They said that police were creating harassment on the behest of some influential persons of the area. They demanded immediate release of Ali Hassan Phul, a PPP worker.

Later, the Thari Mirwah police lodged a case against 250 villagers under section 34, 431, 147, 148 PPC. The villagers nominated in the FIR include Hussain Bux, Karim Bux, Sajan Phul, Zulfiqar and Wahid Bux.
