Fire burns fabrics, houses

FAISALABAD, Oct 29: A fire erupted at a godown near Lal Mills Chowk late on Sunday that damaged fabrics worth millions and 10 nearby houses. Rescue 1122 and fire brigade teams rushed to spot in Gharib Abad after receiving information about the inferno, which reportedly broke out due to an explosion of an electricity transformer. The fire continued for hours and no casualty was reported.

The fire panicked the locals who were evacuated from their houses. After the rapidly spreading-blaze, the district administration and police officials made announcements through mosques asking residents of nearby areas to move to some safer places. Fire-fighters extinguished the fire at 3:30am. — Staff Correspondent
