KARAK Oct 25: The district council on Thursday passed a no-confidence motion and removed naib district nazim Jan Alam.

A majority of the council members, in addition to 21 nazims and district councillors, cast their votes against Mr Alam. Six members, including Mr Alam, did not attend the meeting.

The meeting was held with the acting convener and nazim of Ghundi Mirkhankhel union council, Mufti Mohammad Hayat, in the chair.

Nazims of South Karak, Mithakhel and Bahaderkhel union councils — Mir Shah Ali, Malik Rehman and Mr Zardad — presented the charge-sheet against the naib nazim. They accused him of being involved in corruption besides unnecessarily interfering in district government affairs and harassing government servants.

They said they had provided Mr Alam an opportunity to refute the charges, pointing out that he had chosen not to.
