Rehman recovering

LAHORE, Oct 24: Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Abdul Rehman is recovering fast for the fourth One-day International against South Africa, to be played in Multan on Friday.

Rehman experienced a groin problem during the third ODI in Faisalabad. However he passed an MRI test on Wednesday.

“The groin is not serious. We have two more days (before the fourth ODI) and Rehman may recover well before the announcement of the final line-up,” manager Talat Ali said.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Asif will again be doubtful for the Multan match as the team management and the selectors are considering giving him more rest to recover from an elbow injury he suffered during the second Test in Lahore. Asif, Pakistan’s premier seamer, has already missed the first three ODIs of the series due to his injury.

Sources said though Asif has recovered well, the team management wanted to continue with the winning combination, a step that will also help Asif get more time to regain full fitness for the crucial tour of India.
