KARACHI, March 22: The Karachi Transport Federation has threatened to observe wheel-jam strike if the owner of the bus involved in the Karimabad accident was not released soon.

A meeting of the KTF held here on Friday also demanded withdrawal of murder case registered against the bus driver.

The meeting was of the view that in case of road accidents, a case against the driver could only be registered under Qisas & Diyat Ordinance whereas the implication of the bus owner in a murder case was illegal and unjustified since he was neither present in the bus nor his driver was without a valid driving licence.

The meeting referred to the report of Motor Vehicle Examiner which proved that the accident took place by failure of brakes.

They demanded that murder cases against the driver and bus owner be withdrawn immediately and a case be registered against the driver under Qisas & Diyat Ordinance otherwise.

The meeting deplored that some politicians were using indecent language against the transporters and wanted a direct clash between the public and transporters.—PPI
