KARACHI, March 22: Speakers at a meeting on Friday demanded comprehensive salary package for the United Bank employees before the bank’s privatization.

Speaking at a protest meeting, which was organized jointly by the UBL Employees Union and UBL Officers and Employees’ Action Committee, the leaders of various labour unions demanded that the salaries of the employees be brought at par with those of other government banks.

They warned that if the package was not announced the workers would siege the bank head office. They said the package be announced before the privatisation of the bank so that the new management could not exploit the workers.

M. Mohammad Hussain, Liaquat Ali Sahi, A. Wahab Baloch, Manzoor Razi, Sirajul Hassan, Khalilur Rehman, Asif Butt, Saleem Shaikh, and others spoke on the occasion.
