KARACHI, March 22: Six ships carrying containers an general cargo are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy at the wharves soared to 63 and 100 per cent at dry wharves and the BOPs respectively as the ship movements were maintained on the higher side.

Five ships, MSC Noa, X-Press Dhualagiri, Chara to offload and load containers and general cargo, Kavo Platanos, to offload fertilizer and Ievoli Shine to unload chemicals were berthed after the sailing of four.

The ships, which departed included PONL Pemba, Al-Mirqab, Khairpur and Multan, while Bow Favour, Julius Oldendroff, MSC Noa, An Shun Jiang and Ievoli Shine will sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was fairly brisk thanks to larger handling of the liquid cargo, rising to 0.131 million tons comprising 30,778 tons of export cargo and 0.101 million tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Jamila, Kota Puska, Sagar, Lanka Mahapola Sinar Batom, to unload and load containers, Jilfar to offload general cargo. The following are due on Sunday: Warbah, with high speed diesel, Johar, with crude oil, Emirate Star and Hyundai Stride, with containers.
