JACOBABAD, Oct 17: A meeting of the district council on Wednesday approved the Sindh Devolved Social Services Programme (SDSSP) schemes which included rehabilitation, renovation, upgradation of operation theatre of district headquarter hospital and construction of emergency unit at Taluka Hospital Thul.
Taking part in the discussions, members Ali Mohammad Lashari, Israr Ahmed Jakhrani, Abdul Sattar Brohi and Rafiq Ahmed Soomro said that substandard material was being used in construction of different ongoing schemes.
They said that this occurred due to absence of lack of check and balance system. They also complained that 50 per cent doctors of the Civil Hospital remain absent from their duties.
The District Nazim Begum Saeeda Soomro told the house that the district government was ready to appoint specialists at a salary of Rs50,000 per month at the Civil Hospital but no one was ready to come to Jacobabad.
She further said that she would seek an appointment with the colonel of FWO and asked the UC nazims to submit their suggestions for improvement of the ongoing schemes.
The members also offered fateha for the departed souls of UC nazim Dur Mohammad, who died at Karachi hospital due to cardiac arrest and clerk of DCO office, Qurban Ali Khaskheli, who was shot dead by dacoits.
