Sanitation staff defy orders

Published October 14, 2007

LAKKI MARWAT, Oct 13: Several parts of the Lakki city were presenting a dirty look on Saturday as sweepers and other staff of the Tehsil Municipal Administration did not remove the garbage.

According to official sources, sweepers and other sanitation staff were tasked with removing the garbage on Saturday, with the strict warning of disciplinary action against the negligent employees.

However, the warning proved ineffective as not even a single employee was witnessed performing his duty as part of efforts to keep the city clean on Eid days.

Eyewitnesses said only a portion of the Kachehry road was sprinkled with water up to the central Eidgah.

They said dirt and filth were scattered in almost all the streets causing nuisance for the general public. They confirmed that the sanitation staff did not bother to lift the garbage.
