PESHAWAR, Oct 11: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) on Thursday organised a protest demonstration to condemn what it called the appointment of an anti-Pakhtun man as the caretaker chief minister of the NWFP.

Dozens of JUI-F workers assembled at the Qasim Ali Khan mosque in the old city on the call of the party, took out a protest procession that marched on various roads.

The procession was led by former provincial minister for religious affairs and JUI-F’s Peshawar amir Maulana Amanullah Haqqani.

Upon reaching the Kabuli Chowk, the rally turned into a public meeting which was addressed by the party leaders and other participants of the rally.

On the occasion, Maulana Amanullah Haqqani said that Mr Shamsul Mulk had never raised issues of the NWFP when he was a minister and chairman of Wapda.

Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
