LAHORE, Oct 10: Two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by a car in South Cantonment on Wednesday.

Tariq Naeem, an eyewitness, told Dawn that his brother, Ilyas, along with his business partner, Shaheen Azam, was crossing the Jinnah Bridge on a motorcycle when a speeding car hit the two-wheeler.

The accident was so horrible that both the motorcyclists fell on the car’s bonnet and later fell down from the bridge when the vehicle hit its boundary wall.

Ilyas, 40, was killed on the spot while Shaheen, 57, was taken to Cavalry Hospital and later referred to the Jinnah Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Passers-by caught driver Tanya, a resident of Defence, and handed her over to the patrolling police.

Tariq, a resident of Muslim Ganj Lytton Road, said Ilyas was employed by a signboard manufacturing company. He along with Shaheen was going to see site for a signboard when the accident took place.

Shaheen, a father of three, was a resident of Rajgarh.

The duty officer of the South Cantonment police said an FIR had been registered against the accused on the complaint of Tariq.

In another incident, an unidentified man, about 60, was hit and killed by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road in Tibbi City police limits. — Staff Reporter
