ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: Gul Zaman, 64, a resident of the Haripur district, has appealed to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice of her daughter’s murder and order reinvestigation into the case, in accordance to the law.

He said his daughter, Naseem Bibi, 35, was allegedly beaten to death by his brother-in-law, Iqbal, on Sept 9, 2006 who had dubbed her death as suicide.

He said the Chungi No 4 police post, Wah Cantonment, refused to register the FIR on the pretext that it was a case of suicide, which was contrary to the facts.

The post-mortem report has described the cause of her death as shock due to major injuries and not suicide, he asserted.

The FIR had not yet been registered despite orders of the additional district and sessions judge, Taxila, Abdul Rehman Awan, to the investigation officer (IO).

The IO had been ordered to record the version of the complainant as stated in his application and then undertake an investigation, in accordance to the law.

The complainant said the chief justice was his last ray of hope for getting justice, as all previous appeals to the police high-ups had failed.—APP
