Mediation by PML-N

Published October 8, 2007

LAHORE, Nov 7: The PML-N is mediating between the JUI-F and the Jamaat-i-Islami to resolve their differences on the issue of dissolution of the NWFP Assembly.

PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq is in touch with both the parties and hopes that he will succeed in his mission.

Thereafter, he said, a meeting of the parties in the APDM would be called to discuss the situation and chart the coalition’s future course of action.

The PML-N leader supported Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s point of view on the dissolution of the NWFP Assembly.

He said it was in the interest of the APDM that the assembly should be dissolved so that the MMA could get a right to have its own interim chief minister.

In case the JUI-F MPAs tendered resignations, as being demanded by the Jamaat-i-Islami, the PML would appoint somebody of its own choice as the caretaker chief minister, which would not suit the APDM’s interests, he said. —Political Correspondent
