GHALANAI, Oct 7: A tribesman and his wife were killed and three other people, including their two sons, suffered injuries when two families clashed over a petty issue in Mohmand Agency’s Baizai area on Saturday.

Residents said the families of Hazrat Munir and Mian Khan clashed after their children fought with each other in Spikay Tangi village. Hazrat Munir’s men attacked Mian Khan’s house with hand-grenades and killed Mahmood Jan and his wife.

Mahmood Jan’s sons Mian Khan and Ziarat Khan suffered injuries. Hazrat Munir also received wounds in a counter-attack.

The injured were first taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital but were later shifted to Peshawar due to their critical condition.

Meanwhile, residents of the civil colony Ghalanai stormed the Wapda office and made five officials hostage in protest against power cuts at government-owned residential quarters.

A case was registered against six residents, out of which three were arrested.

An official of the Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) claimed that the residents were defaulters and despite repeated notices had not paid their bills, due to which the power supply was disconnected.
