HYDERABAD, Oct 6: The district government has formulated a strategy for bringing improvement in the quality of education in government-run schools and tightening the monitoring of private schools charging heavy fees, said chairman of district council’s education committee Yousuf Mukhtiar on Saturday.

He said that the committee had recently visited around 150 schools and suspended more than 200 ghost teachers who had been drawing salaries for several years without discharging their duties.

He said that the administration of private schools had been asked to ensure implementation of rules and regulations prescribed for private schools in the district and redress parents’ complaints about heavy fee structure.

Mr Mukhtiar stressed the need for monitoring private schools and said that people were compelled to turn to private institutions because of declining standard of education in government schools.

He said that the district government was taking measures to improve quality of education in government schools.

The district council official described inefficiency of teachers as the cause of decline of educational standard, which he said had shed parents’ confidence in government schools.—APP
