PESHAWAR, March 20: Peshawar District Nazim Azam Afridi has said that providing facilities to people was the prime duty of the district government, not a favour to anyone, and for this purpose substantial funds had been approved to achieve desired goals.

He was talking to the people after opening a tubewell to be constructed under the Khushal Pakistan Programme at Faridabad Union Council No 1, Peshawar the other day.

Mr Afridi said the new devolution plan proved to be the harbinger of progress and prosperity at gross roots. He urged upon the people to extend full cooperation to the district government to make the new people-friendly system a success.

He added that the government believed in selfless service to the masses, and said that each and every penny of the national exchequer would be judiciously used without any discrimination.

The Nazim also stressed upon the Nazimeen to seek opinion of the people of their respective areas before launching any uplift scheme, which, he added, was the main object of new devolution plan.
