LAYYAH, Oct 5: A woman has charged her husband with selling her to his brother who, she said, raped her for three months.

The woman, a resident of Chak 148-B-TDA, married Ghulam Fareed of Mauza Nawankot two years ago. She alleged that her husband maltreated her for two years and eventually sold her to his brother, Ghulam Qasim, for Rs100,000 three months back.

Qasim kept her in confinement and raped her for three months, alleged the woman who had last week complained about severe pain in her belly and was brought out for treatment. On the way to a doctor, she raised hue and cry, making Qasim flee. The passersby helped the victim reach her parents.

The Choubara police station has registered a case against Ghulam Qasim who is still at large.

The woman said her marriage with Ghulam Fareed still existed as “he did not divorce me”.

Human rights activist Ms Nuzhat Yasmeen advocate described the incident of sex trade as a shameless act. She criticised the law-enforcement agencies for failing to check injustices in society by bringing the culprits to the book.

She demanded that the chief justice of Pakistan should take suo motu action against the perpetrators.
