Inquiry against MNA sought

KHAR, Oct 5: Tribal elder Haji Mahboob Jan Salarzai has called on Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai to initiate an inquiry into the development funds allocated to a parliamentarian belonging to the Bajaur Agency.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he regretted that parliamentarians had done nothing for the welfare of local tribesmen and called MNA Shahabuddin Khan’s decision not to resign from the National Assembly ‘a huge disappointment’.

He alleged that the MNA had not only deceived the Awami National Party (ANP) but also the tribal people.

He said the tribesmen had voted for Mr Khan believing that he would fight for their rights, but after he was elected, he did nothing for them despite making tall claims about supposedly initiating development schemes in the area and working for the welfare of locals.

Haji Mahboob said the ANP had expelled Shahabuddin from the party after he exposed his greed for power. He urged the governor to order an inquiry into the development funds of the MNA. He claimed that the tribesmen were so angry with the MNA that they would lay a siege at his house on Eid day.
