KARACHI, Oct 4: The NED University of Engineering and Technology has enhanced sports quota for admission in the institution from the current academic session.

“The admission committee of the university has allocated 12 seats of sports merit for admission in the current session (2007-08) which begins next month,” Manager Sports, Tariq Gujar, said on Thursday.

He said the quota of 12 seats have been revived after almost two decades.

“There were four sports seats in 2005-06 and the number was doubled in 2006-07,” he added.

The criteria for admission on sports envisaged the Pakistan team colour, the national champion, the national junior team colour, national junior champion, the Pakistan university colour, the inter-board champion and the provincial colour.

However, it is mandatory for the sportspersons to have secured at least 55 percent marks and passed the entry test.
