MARDAN, Oct 3: An alleged gangster and two traders were killed here on Tuesday night in a clash at Toru village.
Firasat, a notorious gangster of Swabi who was wanted for his alleged involvement in various crimes, including robberies and kidnapping for ransom, opened fire on two traders, Shakirullah and Hussain Ahmed, when they refused to pay ‘goonda tax’ to him, it is learnt.
The gangster had earlier demanded the illegal tax from the traders on telephone and set Oct 2 as the deadline. The accused killed the two men just before Iftar when they were closing their shops. The assailant tried to escape but was killed in the retaliatory fire.—Correspondent
