Special honour for Adil

KARACHI, Oct 2: Pakistan’s delegation competing in the 12th Special Olympics World Summer Games in the Chinese city of Shanghai earned an honour when Adil Asif Visram was selected as one of the announcers at the opening ceremony held at Shanghai Olympic Stadium on Tuesday night.

Adil, a Global Ambassador of Special Olympics, was among the three people picked for the spectacular show, the other two being from the US and host China, according to information available here.

Hosts China has entered the biggest squad comprising 762 men and 501 women athletes. They are followed by the United States with 395 athletes including 171 women.

Pakistan has entered 65 athletes who are featuring in nine of the 24 disciplines. Regular competitions begin from Wednesday.
