KARACHI, Sept 28: The city government will set up a ready-made concrete material plant to ensure better, stronger and quality construction in the metropolis.

This was announced by Chief Controller of Buildings Rauf Akhtar Farooqi while speaking at a meeting at the KBCA office here on Friday.

He said that the establishment of the plant would not only help maintain quality and stability of buildings, but would also give a boost to the business as the material would offer cost-effective construction. He said the plant was being set up on the directive of City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers Abdul Hafeez Butt appreciated the initiative and suggested that the first plant be set up in an area where construction activity was in full swing. He mentioned the areas like Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Super Highway and Gulshan-i-Maymar in this context.

The meeting was attended by former ABAD chairman Babar Mirza Chughtai, architects, engineers and senior KBCA controllers and officials.—APP
